Ülkemizde genç nesilin süper spor (supersport) kategorisindeki motosikletlere büyük ilgisi olduğu şüphesiz. Yamaha markasının YZF serisi de bu kategoride çok başarılı modeller sunuyor. Bunlardan ülkemizde en çok tutulanı YZF R25 modeli olsa da 250 cc'lik motosikleti fazla güçlü bulan birçok kullanıcı da var.
Başlangıç seviyesi bir süper spor motosiklet bakan kullanıcılar da hâliyle 125 cc'lik daha ufak modellere yöneliyorlar. YZF R125 modeli de burada devreye giriyor. Yamaha da YZF R125 modelini 2021 yılı için hem tasarım hem de özellikleri anlamında yeniledi. Motosikletin değişimlerinden bahsetmeden önce, eski hâline göre çok daha iyi göründüğünü kesinlikle söyleyebiliriz. Yani R25 satın almayı düşünen birçok müşterinin aklına girebilir gibi görünüyor.
124.7 cc'lik sıvı soğutmalı tek silindirli motor ile gelen 2021 Yamaha R125, 15 beygir güç ve 11.5 Nm tork üretiyor. Fakat motosikletin tasarımı ne 15 beygir gücünde ne de 125 cc'lik olduğunu belli ediyor. Motosiklet, üst modeli R25'in yanı sıra R6 ve R1 gibi daha da üst seviye modellerden bazı tasarım detayları almış. Çift gövde rengi düzeni de bu benzerlikte büyük rol oynuyor.

2021 R125'te dikkatimizi çeken yeniliklerden birisi de motosikletin gaz ve fren kısmında yani elcik denilen kısmında gelen koruma parçası oluyor. Gidon topuzuna takılan ve manet koruma gibi isimlerle bilinen bu koruma parçası, güvenlik anlamında önemli bir adım olmuş. Hatta birçok motosikletçi, bu parçayı sonradan motosikletlerine taktırmayı tercih ediyor.
17 inç'lik jantlara sahip olan motosikletin hidrolik frenleri ise önde 292 mm'lik, arkada ise 220 mm'lik diskler ile geliyor. Aks mesafesi 1.355 mm olan motosikletin yerden yükseklik değeri ise 155 mm olarak belirtilmiş. Islak ağırlık değeri de (yağ ve benzin deposu tamamen dolu şekilde) 144 kg şeklinde. Yakıt tankının 11.5 litre olduğu da açıklanan bilgiler arasında.
Yamaha, güzel özellikler ile güncellediği, yeni bir siyah rengi de seçenekleri arasına eklediği R125'i yıl sonundan itibaren dünya genelinde satışa sunacağını da açıklıyor. Motosikletin Euro 5 uyumlu motorunun daha çevreci, daha ekonomik ve daha tepkili olacağı da şüphesiz diyebiliriz.

The Yamaha YZF-R125 is a sport motorcycle designed by Yamaha and manufactured by MBK Industrie since 2008. In 2023 the model is in its fourth generation.
First generation: (2008–2013)[edit]
In 2008, the bike initially came available as a four stroke replacement for the TZR125. Entering the thin market of small displacement 4-stroke sport bikes, it quickly gained traction and became a popular choice for young riders.

Second generation: (2014–2018)[edit]
In 2014, Yamaha gave a facelift to the model, with a slightly tweaked fairing set, an upside-down front fork and a full LCD dashboard. The model launched without ABS, but it became an option for 2015. To comply with EU regulations, ABS is a standard equipment on all bikes since 2017. This may cause minor differences in weight, electric or other specifications.

Third generation: (2019–2022)[edit]
The 2019 model has a new rear swingarm, changes to the frame and bodywork, a new engine with Variable Valve Actuation
(VVA).[clarification needed]
There is a small 2021 update, that adds a vapor canister to the fuel system, presumably to
help the bike comply with the more strict Euro 5 emission standard.

Fourth generation: (2023–on)[edit]
The bike yet again received a slight overhaul for the 2023 model year. The changes include some minor tweaks to the suspension like a different caster angle at the front (it is now 26°), and a shorter swingarm travel at the rear (it is now 110 mm down from 114 mm). The front half of the bike has reworked fairings and a new 5” full color TFT dash with smartphone connectivity.
